The mission of the New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) is to promote health and wellness, improve health outcomes, and assure safety net services for all people in New Mexico. The DOH local public health offices act as safety net providers for all New Mexicans. They are located across 32 counties. They serve primarily uninsured and under-served populations offering them access to key services such as harm reduction, immunizations, family planning, refugee health care, STD testing and treatment, and tuberculosis treatment.

Our team at the DOH Pharmacy supports both the DOH mission and our local public health offices by providing pharmacy consulting services, delivery of personal protective equipment, medications and medical supplies to our local public health offices and contracted clinics statewide.

Why does the job exist?

 
This position is part of the PHD Pharmacy warehouse team. This position will receive inventory, fill medication and medical supply orders to offices statewide. This position will perform pharmacy technician duties to help support the delivery of pharmaceutical services to offices across the state of NM.

How does it get done?

 
Filling of medication and medical supply orders on a weekly basis.

Prepare and ship these orders to offices and locations around the state.

Receive inventory and conduct inventory spot checks.

Remove expiring medications from inventory.

Maintain knowledge base in pharmacy and maintain current NMBOP Pharmacy Technician license.

Monitor temperatures of medications and vaccines. Provide admin support to pharmacists as needed.

Patient verification and eligibility assessments.

Stock the shelves with inventory, stand for extended periods of time.

Operate carts, dollies, hand trucks, electrical pallet jack.

Who are the customers?

 
The PHD Pharmacy warehouse provides medications and medical supplies to public health offices, provider sites and opioid education sites to act as safety net providers for all New Mexicans. They serve primarily uninsured and under-served populations offering them access to key services such as Family Planning services, STD services and TB medication treatment.

Ideal Candidate

 
Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician by the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.

Minimum Qualification

 
Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician as issued by the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy.

Employment Requirements

 
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certification from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

 
Mixed office and warehouse setting.

Exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting.

Stand for extended periods and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach for items.

Lift up to 25 Lbs.

Operate carts, dollies, hand trucks, forklifts, and other equipment to move large quantities of pharmaceuticals or medical supplies.

Operate powered industrial equipment (PIT); we provide special training based on interest and availability.

Climb and descend stairs and ladders.

Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.
