Central Louisiana State Hospital located in Pineville, Louisiana is seeking applicants for vacant positions in our Nursing Department as a Pharmacist 3 who performs professional level pharmacy tasks.

The Pharmacist 3 plays a vital role for the Louisiana Department of Health in the Behavioral Health community by utilizing CLSH’s values and mission to deliver quality and effective care to our patients. The hospital is highly committed to cooperative work with other state agencies and with the state and regional mental health program to insure the integration and coordination of hospital-community services into a comprehensive system of mental health care.

Requirements

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice pharmacy plus two years of experience as a licensed pharmacist.

Job Duties:

  • Receives, interprets, and dispenses all medication orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Coordinates with other Hospital departments and clinics to resolve operational problems and provide drug interaction and medication information.
  • Inspects all medications prior to the medications leaving the pharmacy and ensures that no medications are ever dispensed without a pharmacist final review.
  • Performs work independently to enter orders into the pharmacy software program, generate labels and fill prescriptions accurately and in compliance with all departmental, hospital, state and federal rules regulations and policies.
  • Utilizes pharmacy software efficiently and effectively for the management of prescription filling and inventory control.
  • Consults with prescriber prior to dispensing any medication with a drug interaction, questionable dose, confusing or unclear orders and maintains records of prescriber notification and authorization to dispense in such cases.
  • Ensures that the required information for medications is delivered to the client or the client's representative on request and discharge.
  • Maximizes the effectiveness of pharmacy dispensing functions, including medications, samples and medications to be picked up from pharmacy.
  • Manages PMP functions effectively and accurately insuring appropriate safeguards are in place for accurate, safe medication delivery and diversion prevention.
  • Maintains a current license in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy and other regulatory agencies required to practice as a licensed pharmacist in the State of Louisiana.

Career Progression:  This position may be filled as a Pharmacist 3.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 4:30pm

Compensation: This position has a bi-weekly minimum hire rate of $3612.80.
