As a PH Registered Nurse within the North Georgia Health District at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Requirements

Under supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures within but not limited to areas of Family Planning, Women's Health, STD's, Children's Health, TB/,Infectious Disease and Immunizations. Participates in community events and provides evidence-based education on various health promotion topics.

  • Under supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with established nurse protocols, policies, and/or procedures in Cherokee County. 
  • Functions as an expanded role nurse providing patient care consistent with patient’s level of need.
  • Will focus on the prevention of illness, injury or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of the population.
  • Serves as patient advocate and refers patients to community partners or private physicians, when indicated.
  • Utilizes Electronic Medical Record to accurately documents patient care and enter billing information for reimbursement. 
  • Administers and dispenses medications and vaccines based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol.
  • Provides education to clients, families, and community partners.
  • Incorporates strategies for interacting with persons from diverse backgrounds e.g. cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, gender, age, ethnic, sexual orientation, professional, religious affiliation, mental and physical capabilities.
  • Prepares to respond to public health emergencies and respond as directed.
  • Uses individual, team, and organizational learning opportunities for personal and professional development.

Qualifications

Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification. Note: No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Public Health Experience

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.


CBH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered.


All positions require criminal history record check. Required education credentials, license, certification and/or registration must be submitted prior to employment in the position. Some positions require pre-employment drug testing in which the applicant who is offered the position will be required to successfully complete.
