Occupational Therapist 1 (WAE)

Division: Within the Rehabilitation Department at ELMHS, Located in Jackson, LA

The Mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation, and consultation for adults. Programs include inpatient interventions, jail-based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long-term psychiatric care are coordinated with the total system of care in Louisiana.

ELMHS is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented individual to come and join the team in the Rehabilitation Department as an Occupational Therapist!

Requirements

Possession of a current Louisiana Occupational Therapist temporary permit.

Job Duties:  

In this role, you will:

  • Provides skilled Occupational Therapy services under the supervision of Licensed and Registered Occupational Therapists to early, middle, and late adult clients
  • Communicates patients’ progress through weekly or monthly documentation, and ensures that this documentation meets quality management standards.  
  • Train and supervise assigned Work Therapy clients.  
  • Complete work therapy evaluations, patient time sheets, and other paperwork associated with training and working with the patients.
  • Assist with the acquisition, maintenance, and safe use of OT supplies and equipment.  
  • Ensures that the inventory of supplies is maintained within budgetary constraints.
  • Informs the OT supervisor of equipment that is damaged and/or any situation that poses a safety risk for other employees or clients.

Appointment Type:  WAE (not to exceed 1,245 hours in a 12-month period)
