INTERVIEWS ARE ANTICIPATED TO BE CONDUCTED WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF CLOSING DATE.

The Communicable Disease Bureau (CDB) within the Center for Healthy and Safe Communities (CHSC) oversees programs to respond to common infectious diseases including HIV, STD, hepatitis and TB, while also providing services for child and adult immunization/vaccination and refugee health. A number of programs are partially funded with grants from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) including HIV prevention, STD, hepatitis, TB and immunization. The bureau sets policies and clinical protocols and manages contracts to reduce the spread of communicable disease across New Mexico.

Why does the job exist?

 
This position will manage the programmatic aspects of the NM Statewide Immunization Information System (NMSIIS); establish clearly define policies/procedures for all system users statewide; provides supervision and develops objectives/organizational plans for the NMSIIS team with the goal of improving the delivery of childhood and adult immunization services.

How does it get done?

 
Manage staff and collaborate with other managers to meet the needs to NMSIIS, throughout the Immunization Program statewide

Manage support of NMSIIS in coordination with the system vendor and key IT staff, including but not limited to user acceptance testing and on-going functionality

Support efforts of the immunization program to maintain the system and implement any future system enhancements

Supervise NMSIIS staff activities, including the NMSIIS help desk

Advocate for NMSIIS to internal and external entities, with the primary goal of achieving increased participation and entry of patient/immunization information into the registry per state law

Who are the customers?

 
NM DOH immunization program, healthcare providers, school nurses, pharmacies, hospitals, public health programs, universities, state leadership, out of state jurisdictions, CDC and other various federal entities, parents, students, and the NM public.

Minimum Qualification

 
Associate degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Statistics, Finance, or a related field and three (3) years of experience with a public assistance program, medical, healthcare, educational, or state facility working with policies and procedures, conducting analysis/research, providing or requesting information from the general public, working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management, behavioral health, and/or health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

 
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certification from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

 
Office setting, exposure to VDT, extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some travel may be required. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.  Must have valid NM driver's license and certification of Defensive Driving training after hire.
