Position Overview: The Georgia Office of EMS and Trauma seek a motivated and detail-oriented Master of Public Health (MPH) intern from the University of Georgia to support our ongoing projects and initiatives. The intern will gain hands-on experience in public health, EMS systems, EMS Initial and Continuing Education, and Specialty systems of Care (Cardiac, Trauma, Stroke, and Pediatrics) and contribute to meaningful work that impacts the health and safety of Georgia residents. This internship will be completed in one semester

Key Responsibilities and Opportunities with the OEMST:

• Data Analysis and Reporting: Assist in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to EMS systems, EMS Initial and Continuing Education Programs, including performance improvements and best practices. The intern may use findings to develop and recommend new programs or improvements to existing initiatives.
• Program Support: Support EMS education programs, including logistics coordination and participant outreach. Assist in designing and evaluating public health programs, projects, and interventions, such as EMS education programs.
• Research: Conduct literature reviews and assist in drafting reports on current trends in EMS systems and EMS Education.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Work with various stakeholders, including EMS providers, EMS Education Programs, Hospitals, and community organizations, to support OEMST initiatives.
• Policy Development: Assist in developing policy briefs and recommendations based on data and research findings. 
• Communication Strategies: Develop communications tools to effectively report and engage various stakeholders on research findings, policy initiatives, and EMS and EMS Education system improvements, utilizing oral presentations, written reports, infographics, and social media campaigns.
• Administrative Support: Perform general administrative tasks as needed, including organizing meetings, preparing materials, and maintaining records.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a Master of Public Health (MPH) program at the University of Georgia.
• Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data analysis tools.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Passion for public health, injury prevention, trauma care, and community safety.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with public health research or data analysis.
• Knowledge of trauma systems and injury prevention strategies.
• Previous experience working with governmental or non-profit organizations.
