Requirements

As the Medical Monitoring Project (MMP) Project Coordinator within the Division of Epidemiology at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.


  • Under general supervision, manage all aspects of the Medical Monitoring Project (MMP), including project planning, team assembly, task assignment, and resource identification.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations; develop and manage project schedules to ensure timely completion of benchmarks and deliverables.
  • Collect, analyze, and use operational data to monitor progress, evaluate quality, and implement corrective actions when performance metrics are not met.
  • Supervise, guide, and instruct the work assignments of subordinate staff; ensure appropriate training and ongoing staff support.
  • Ensure compliance with CDC protocols, data security, confidentiality requirements, and maintain updated local SOPs and training materials.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage the project budget.
  • Draft, submit, and manage grant applications, interim reports, annual progress reports, and annual/interim workplans.
  • Communicate regularly with the Principal Investigator (PI), Project Officer (PO), and other managerial staff; provide weekly progress updates to the PI and PO.
  • Meet routinely with the CDC MMP Project Officer and attend all required CDC virtual and in-person MMP meetings.
  • Establish, support, and collaborate with the Community Advisory Board (CAB) and Participant Advisory Board (PAB).
  • Build and maintain partnerships with healthcare facilities and providers.
  • Support and participate in the dissemination of MMP data to internal and external stakeholders.


Qualifications

High school diploma/GED and eight (8) years of professional level experience OR an equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job experience or training that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year over year.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (BASED ON THE NEEDS OF THE POSITION):
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university. 
  • Experience in HIV or STD surveillance activities. 
  • Experience overseeing and managing projects. 
  • Experience with grant management. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of STDs/HIV/AIDS situations and trends, including social, economic, and gender challenges. 
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Teams).  
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and exercise good judgment with minimal supervision. 
  • Ability to work with diverse populations. 
  • Ability to communicate ideas and information effectively, both orally and in writing.

State of Georgia employees are subject to the rules of the State Personnel Board regarding salary.

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) as valid. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degrees, diplomas, licensures, and other relevant credentials.
