Medical Certification Supervisor



Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority (JPHSA) is a Local Governing Entity (LGE) created by the Louisiana Legislature in 1989.JPHSA is responsible for the management and operation of behavioral health and developmental disability Services in Jefferson Parish. JPHSA provides fully integrated primary and behavioral healthcare services through its JeffCare program.

The Developmental Disabilities Community Services (DDCS) Division provides services and supports to assist individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD)  to live in the least restrictive environments and to participate as fully as possible within their communities. The Waiver Program Supervisor works in DDCS under the direction of the Division Director. The incumbent is responsible for the supervision of the Medicaid Home-and Community-Based Waiver (HCBW) programs, including the New Opportunities Waiver (NOW), Children's' Choice Waiver (CC),Supports Waiver (SW),and, Residential Options Waiver (ROW). The incumbent must have understanding and knowledge of applicable federal and state guidelines, rules, regulations, and laws.

Requirements

A current Louisiana license in a health services field, health regulation field, or social services field plus four years of experience in hospital or nursing home administration, health services, health regulation, or social services; OR

A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in hospital or nursing home administration, health services, health regulation, or social services; OR

A master's degree in a health services field, health regulation field, or a social services field plus three years of experience in hospital or nursing home administration, health services, health regulation, or social services.

Job Duties:

As a Medical Certification Supervisor, you will, 

  • Ensures resources dedicated for Medicaid HCBW are effectively and efficiently delivered and received by eligible participants
  • Evaluates reports and data, attendance and participation at formal and informal meetings, and communicates with recipients and other support network members to determine effectiveness of the certification and monitoring activities of the waiver staff
  • Evaluates DDCS waiver program and administrative staff job performance, including but not limited to, adherence to JPHSA policies, procedures, mandatory training, and attendance
  • Develops, prepares and submits Waiver Office programmatic activities for the State Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities program managers, as well as quality assurance data as needed or requested
  • Participates as a member of the Family Support Committee and provides recommendations for approval or denial of requests for JPHSA/DDCS services
  • Ensures adherence to the Guidelines for Planning Review Committee (GPRC) and provides recommendations for services reduction and for allowance of permanent or temporary exception of services above service needs outlined in the Resource Allocation (RA) Model

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type:   Promotional (open only current permanent JPHSA employees)

Career Progression:  This position does not participates in a Career Progression Group.

Work Schedule: Flexible work hours that may be outside of the traditional 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, schedule dependent on job duties.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
