The Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Aging and Adult Services – Compliance and Audit  (CAT) Section is seeking Medical Certification Specialists 1–2 to help ensure the quality, safety, and compliance of healthcare across our state.

Join the Compliance and Audit Team (CAT) and play a vital role in safeguarding Louisiana’s long-term care services. As part of a statewide program within the Louisiana Department of Health, CAT partners with the Office of Aging and Adult Services to conduct audits and provide critical oversight for key programs, including Long Term Care, Adult Day Health Care, Community Choices, and Long Term–Personal Care Services. Requirements

A current Louisiana license in a health services field, health regulation field, or social services field plus two years of experience in hospital or nursing home administration, health services, health regulation, or social services; OR

A bachelor's degree plus two years of experience in hospital or nursing home administration, health services, health regulation, or social services; OR

A master's degree in a health services field, health regulation field, or a social services field plus one year of experience in hospital or nursing home administration, health services, health regulation, or social services.

Job Duties:
  • Conducts monitoring visits with HCBS participants and direct service providers to ensure services align with approved plans of care, comply with federal and state regulations, and support fiscal responsibility.
  • Performs face-to-face field assessments to determine initial and ongoing eligibility for HCBS programs, requiring frequent regional and occasional statewide travel, often on an unscheduled basis.
  • Develops, reviews, and approves person-centered plans of care and ensures accurate, timely documentation and reporting.
  • Reviews logs, electronic systems, and service environments to identify potential fraud, waste, or abuse and reports concerns in accordance with Program Integrity requirements.
  • Conducts special investigations in response to complaints, makes required referrals to appropriate entities, and provides information or testimony for hearings, appeals, and legal proceedings as needed.
  • Collaborates with partner agencies, participates in team meetings and required trainings, and assists with technical assistance and training development related to OAAS programs.
