Come join our team! As a Medical Assistant II at the HOPE Center in Macon, GA you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals who support the mission and vision of protecting the lives of Georgia residents in a variety of ways.

Requirements

Medical Assistant II at the HOPE Center supports compassionate and confidential care for Ryan White clients. Working under provider supervision, this role handles vital signs, patient prep, medication and vaccine administration, specimen collection, and medical record documentation. Medical Assistant II also supports Ryan White clients with treatment and appointment adherence and contributes to a multidisciplinary care team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities  

  • Records patients' medical history, vital statistics and information such as test results in medical records.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
  • Interviews patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
  • Prepares and administers medications as directed by a physician.
  • Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients.
  • Collect laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
  • Receives additional training, as required, to gain full proficiency and experience in all areas.
  • Performs additional professional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and one (1) year experience in a related field.

High School diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience in medical assisting; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower-level Medical Assistant I (HCT100) or position equivalent.
 
Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a public health setting.
  • Previous experience working with Ryan White clients.

The use of physical activity breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and help employees meet their wellness goals. A maximum of 30 minutes of physical activity may be allocated per workday, typically in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

Employment Information

State of Georgia employees are subject to the rules of the State Personnel Board regarding salary.

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) as valid. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degrees, diplomas, licensures, and other relevant credentials.

The candidate selected for this position may be subject to pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check.
