MEDICAID REGIONAL ADMINISTRATOR

Lead a dynamic regional team at the forefront of Louisiana’s Medicaid program as part of the Bureau of Health Services Financing. In this high-impact leadership role, you will oversee eligibility operations for a wide range of Medicaid programs serving more than 1.7 million residents across the state. Requirements

Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the supervisory level or above:

Eight years of social services experience; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field plus five years of social services experience; OR

A bachelor's degree plus five years of social services experience; OR

An advanced degree plus four years of social services experience.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties:
  • Supervises the Medicaid Assistant Regional Administrator, Administrative Program Manager, Area Managers, and Analyst Supervisors, providing direction for all regional Medicaid programs and office management practices.

  • Develops and implements current and long-range operational plans to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient processing of Medicaid actions and delivery of services statewide.

  • Establishes operational standards, monitors program effectiveness, and conducts management and program reviews to maintain program integrity, quality, and compliance.

  • Analyzes operational data, identifies problems, adjusts priorities, formulates solutions, and implements corrective measures to meet departmental objectives and goals.

  • Oversees all regional personnel functions, including hiring, promotions, disciplinary actions, staffing allocation, and compliance with Civil Service Rules, LDH policies, and Equal Employment Opportunity regulations.

  • Directly supervises staff performance, establishes work plans, sets goals, and evaluates employee development while promoting teamwork, engagement, and adaptability to policy and system changes.

  • Administers regional fiscal and budgetary responsibilities, including budget preparation, expenditure tracking, variance reporting, and resource allocation to ensure proper funding for offices and staff.

  • Manages regional property, inventory, procurement, and purchasing processes, ensuring compliance with regulations and efficient delivery of goods and services.

  • Monitors and evaluates the quality of services provided by Medicaid Application Centers, providing technical assistance and implementing corrective actions when necessary.

  • Serves as a liaison with local, state, federal, and private agencies, community organizations, and the public; participates in outreach, special studies, policy formulation, and committee work to support regional and statewide Medicaid program objectives.
