Medicaid Analyst Supervisor



The mission of the Louisiana Department of Health is to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents of the State of Louisiana.



The Louisiana Department of Health is seeking a motivated Medicaid Analyst Supervisor to lead a team of Medicaid Analysts and ensure high-quality, accurate service delivery. In this role, you will oversee workflow, maintain compliance with state and federal policies, support staff with complex cases, monitor case quality, provide in-service training, and handle reviews, investigations, and fair-hearing inquiries. Requirements

Six years of social services experience; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field plus three years of social services experience; OR

A bachelor's degree plus three years of social services experience; OR

An advanced degree plus two years of social services experience.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

  • Supervises and directs a team of Medicaid Eligibility Analysts, ensuring accurate and timely eligibility determinations within LaMEDS

  • Reviews and approves eligibility decisions, benefits authorizations, and system-generated outputs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and agency policies

  • Monitors staff performance, productivity, and error rates, and ensures unit meets established performance metrics

  • Provides ongoing coaching, remedial training, and constructive feedback to support staff development and improve quality of work

  • Conducts case reviews and supervisory evaluations to assess accuracy, identify trends, and enhance employee performance

  • Interprets and applies complex Medicaid policies and procedures while maintaining current knowledge of regulatory and system changes

  • Participates in policy development, system testing, and continuous improvement initiatives such as WorkSmart, Agile, and Lean Six Sigma

  • Prepares reports, analyzes data, and conducts research or special studies to improve operations and support leadership decisions

  • Manages personnel functions including recruitment, hiring, performance evaluations, time and attendance validation, and compliance with Civil Service rules

  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with staff, stakeholders, and external partners while promoting teamwork, accountability, and a positive organizational image

Compensation: This position is eligible for the following Special Entrance Rates (SER), as well as a Premium Pay of up to $2.00/hr for hours worked based on longevity.
