Job Description

Salary: up to $47,586.00, based on education and experience

Full Time /Part Time: Full Time

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday

Primary Hours: 8-5

Position Description:

The Material Management Specialist III is responsible for assigned responsibilities involving the management, from acquisition to disposal, of all the supplies and equipment used to support an institution or agency. These responsibilities include procurement, receipt, storage, control, issuance, inventory, delivery of material, equipment, records, agency mail, and other supplies used to support agency business needs.

Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Receives, issues, ships, and arranges materials, equipment, records, agency mail and other supplies in proper location using machinery as needed
  • Provides centralized mail services and/or performs centralized printing functions.
  • Inspect items for conformance with specifications.
  • Conducts inventories and maintains records, files, reports, and performs necessary administrative duties.
  • Assists requisition in preparation of specifications.
  • Acts as liaison to the agency purchasing agent/Central Purchasing.
  • Supervises and trains subordinate personnel and edits requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Confers with department heads, vendors, and outside agencies concerning purchases deliveries, and acceptability of supplies.
  • Coordinates with other units/divisions as needed to clarify policy, procedure and determine status for a wide range of service and support related requests, which may include the acquisition, storage, disbursement and/or disposal of assets and records.
  • Interior maintenance for both the Strata building and Stiles building.
  • Contractor Oversight-Escalate complex repairs (e.g. elevator failure, leaks, painting) to specialized contractors and supervise their work to ensure it meets OSDH needs.
  • Preventative Maintenance-Follow a strict calendar for “behind the walls” equipment servicing to extend the life the life of the building’s multimillion-dollar assets.
  • Being present at the office is an essential function of the job.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of three years of experience in receipt, storage, or stock handling work, and issuance of material; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Valued Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of simple arithmetic; of the English language; of storage methods and procedures; of inventory methods and techniques and maintaining detailed inventory records; of warehouse practices and techniques; of stock handling; of the operation of warehouse equipment; and of stock identification methods. Ability is required to write simple reports; to follow oral or written instructions; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to store and warehouse a variety of supplies; to maintain detailed inventory records; to maintain accurate warehouse records; and to follow oral and written instructions. Skills required to operate a forklift.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Work is typically performed in an office setting with climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise levels. While performing the duties of the job, employees are required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.  This position requires long periods of sitting and daily use of computers and phones. Employees must be willing to complete all job-related travel associated with this position. Being present at the office is an essential function of the job.
