Why does the job exist?

 
To provide nursing support and administration to all units. To ensure patients' and staffs safety and wellbeing. Directly supervises assigned House Psychiatric Technicians on the night shift.

How does it get done?

 
This position will serve as part of a treatment team assisting in the development and implementation of programs, infection control management practices, and assessing quality standards of patient care.

Ideal Candidate

 
Experience in providing comprehensive nursing care;
Experience in administration of all types of medications;
Experience working with treatment teams.

Minimum Qualification

 
Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and five (5) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.

Working Conditions

 
This position will perform work in a hospital and office setting with exposure to Visual Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable and sometimes violent behaviors In volatile situations requiring crisis intervention may be required. Position will perform work primarily in an office setting with extensive computer and phone usage and exposure to VisualNideo Display Terminal. Effective 01/01/2015, the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free/E-Cigarette Free Campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products are permitted on any part of the campus. This position will be required to work weekends, holidays, overtime and call back hours as needed.
