Why does the job exist?

 
Incumbent will be responsible for providing nursing care to meet the needs of the patients on Tesuque; responsible for
providing direction and guidance to Psychiatric Technicians and for the implementation and direction of all nursing activities
towards common hospital goals.

How does it get done?

 
Incumbent duties will include but not limited to administration of all types of medications to include oral and injectable for the purpose of relieving anxiety, controlling behavior and treating physical problems. Performs various treatments ordered by the physician in order to assure patient's optimal physical and mental wellbeing.

Ideal Candidate

 
Ideal candidate will have:
Experience in supervisor role;
Experience in providing comprehensive nursing care;
Experience in administration of all types of medications;
Must be licensed in accordance with the Nursing Practice Act Section
61-3-2 through 61-3-31 NMSA 1978 and 16.12.1 through 16.12.20
NMAC, as applicable

Minimum Qualification

 
Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and five (5) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.

This role is subject to background check and drug and alcohol testing.

Working Conditions

 
This position will perform work in a hospital and office setting with exposure to Visual Nideo Display Terminal (VDTI and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable and sometimes violent behaviors in volatile situations required. Effective 01/01/2015, New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free/ E·Cigarette Free Campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products or E-cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus. Unit is Tesuque I. Hours are 3pm to 11pm.
