Department of Health is in the process of upgrading the Electronic Health Record (EHR) System across the various Hospital Facilities operated by the State. This enterprise solution implementation incorporates a technology upgrade in addition to a functional upgrade of the EHR system currently being used at the Facilities.

Why does the job exist?

 
This is an INTERN position so as to provide students an exposure to the various Verification and Validation techniques used at the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH). 

The Interning student will learn about IT Quality Assurance Processes, such as:
- Enterprise Software Testing approach
- Testing Methodologies
- Testing Tools/ Software
- Testing automation

How does it get done?

 
- Participate in Requirements Gathering Sessions
- Study the Requirements documentation
- Participate in the creation of Testing strategy, Testing documentation and Testing scripts
- Participate in Software Testing, Documenting the Findings and other Testing Related Activities
- Provide status updates and participate in review meetings

Who are the customers?

 
Customers are

- The Clinical Team in the various departments at the NMDOH Facilities
- The Facilities IT Support team

Ideal Candidate

 
Ideally the student should be from one of the following education streams -

- Computer Science
- Computer Engineering
- Healthcare Management

Minimum Qualification

 
Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university OR completion of at least four (4) semesters (or equivalent) at an accredited college or university within the last two (2) years.

Employment Requirements

 
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Working Conditions

 
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.   It will involve attending meetings on the Web with access to Video cameras.  Taking notes during meetings and documenting the findings during the software verification and validation sessions.
