Under the direction of the Public Health Service Region Immunization Program Manager, Public Health Prevention Specialist II/ImmTrac2 Coordinator will conduct activities to increase the use of the Texas Immunization Registry. Activities consist of outreach, education, training, data entry, quality improvement assessments, recruitment, and technical assistance. Population targeted are the general public, school nurses and clinical staff members. PHPS II/IC will educate and target public, expecting moms, parents, legal guardians, managing conservators, school nurses, clinic staff and high school students turning 18 years of age on the importance and benefits of keeping, maintaining, consenting in the Texas Immunization Registry. The PHPS II/IC will provide any technical assistance to anyone requesting information on ImmTrac2. PHPS II/IC will attend work in a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency’s policy. Will maintain an acceptable driving record that meets the standards developed by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and will safely operate a either a state-owned vehicle or personal vehicle to conduct state business in accordance with DSHS policy, Fleet Management & Procedures and Texas Motor vehicle traffic and driving licensure law. Employee must have a valid driver’s license. Employee will actively participate and serve in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and or recover continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.
Essential Job Functions:
(30%) Quality Assurance Responsible Entity/Local Health Department:
PHPS II/IC will utilize reports (PAR, CARE, and TIPS) or client listing provided by central office to meet goals on required activities. Will provide technical assistance by conducting ImmTrac2 Support Reviews. Will conduct outreach/education to inactive organizations who are not utilizing registry or administering immunizations and are not part of the immunization registry. Will evaluate monthly reports to target organizations that have a low or no consent rate acceptance, educate on data exchange or online activity within their organization. All contact/communication will be made in person, email, phone, or Teams. PHPS II/IC will conduct ImmTrac2 Support Reviews required by central office within each fiscal year and as stated in the GUITIR. ISR's must meet annual goal. This will consist of an initial visit with a follow up visit three months after. Both initial and follow up will be completed within fiscal year.
(20%) Conduct Outreach to Increase Consents for 18 year olds:
PHPSII/IC will exhibit, and present to 18-year-olds in high schools, universities, and other institutes of higher learning. PHPSII/IC will conduct in person school activities/presentations in school setting. PHPS II/IC will work with school nurses, counselors, or any other school staff member and will assist in educate 18 year olds concerning Adult Consent for ImmTrac2. The school staff will incorporate the Adult Consent Form and Disaster Consent Form as part of their school enrollment or graduation packet.
(15%) Quality Assurance Responsible Entity/Local Health Department: Provide training to RE/LHD for the Texas Immunization Registry, ImmTrac2. Will assist with getting new Regional and RE/LHD staff to gain access to ImmTrac2 registry. Assist with RE/LHD Annual Contract Reviews. Complete PHR Quarterly Report for ImmTrac2. Review and complete RE/LHD Quarterly review.
(15%) Stakeholders/Partners/Consumer Information: Actively disseminates information and provides education the importance of the Texas Immunization Registry to Texas Vaccines for Children/Adult Safety Net Program providers, local health departments, regional staff, parents, and other stakeholders. Promotes and utilizes various methods to increase the use of the Texas Immunization Registry among various entities. Communicate with various organizations, schools, clinical staff to increase use the Texas Immunization Registry, ImmTrac2. Coordinates and actively participates in activities to ensure providers are educated on the importance of promoting and ensuring clients are entered within 30 days of vaccination given.
(10%) Recruitment: Provide education and information for the Texas Immunization Registry to new providers, pharmacies. Providers will be provided with a training on how to utilize the Immunization Registry. They will also be provided with resources and tools to manage their vaccine administration. PHPS II/IC will follow up with any questions and concerning with the registry.
(10%) Program Management: Assist in evaluating program goals and objectives; participates in community partnerships; participates in staff training and provider resources in PHR 11. Participates in any emergency event as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Employee actively participates and/or serves in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.
Initial Screening A 4-year bachelor’s degree; OR a 2-year associate degree from an accredited college or university plus two years’ work experience in a healthcare setting. Education and work experience can be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis. Experience with public health principles, emergency preparedness principles, vaccine-preventable diseases or an Immunization program or practices, preferred. Experience in word processing, database software applications, and spreadsheet software applications. Ability to work other than 8:00am - 5:00pm.
Licensure, Certification or Registration (Required)
Must Possess a valid Class C Texas Driver License, or equivalent license from another state.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Required)
Knowledge of immunizations and vaccine-preventable diseases.
Knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations which impact immunizations.
Knowledge of the immunization recommendations and requirements.
Knowledge of survey methods and analysis.
