HR Investigator

This role sits at the center of employee and labor relations, supporting the Department of Health’s commitment to fair, consistent, and legally sound people practices. Reporting to the Employee & Labor Relations Manager, this position plays a critical role in conducting complex personnel investigations and supporting labor relations operations that uphold policy, agreements, and standards of conduct across the agency.

You will work independently on sensitive, high-impact matters while partnering closely with management, HR consultants, labor relations leadership, unions, and legal counsel. The work is detailed, consequential, and essential to ensuring accountability, clarity, and resolution across the organization. 

The majority of your work will be focused on conducting personnel investigations, with additional support provided to Labor Relations.

Required Qualifications 

Experience may have been gained through paid or unpaid activities. Please ensure any relevant experience defined below is outlined in your cover letter, resume, and/or applicant profile.

  • Three (3) years of experience conducting investigations within a government or private organization determining compliance with specific statutes, rules, policies, or other requirements. Experience must include gathering and preserving evidence, conducting interviews, and writing clear and comprehensive investigation reports. 
  • Demonstrated experience in the following areas:
    • Providing sound HR consultation and advice 
    • Writing professional-level legally defensible reports and responses
    • Working with collective bargaining agreements
    • Working with state or federal personnel employment laws
    • Advanced knowledge of just cause principles
    • Performing complex research.
