Why does the job exist?

 
The House Nurse Administrator oversees the House division of the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute. The position is responsible for supervising both nurses and psychiatric technicians who work out of the division. This position is responsible for creating and monitoring the schedules across three divisions at NMBHI to ensure that the staffing patterns are safe to care for the patients and residents. This position is responsible for supervising the house staff who find coverage in the event of call-ins or open shifts. This position is also responsible for running reports and providing information to the executive nurse administrator as needed.

Supervise both nurses and psychiatric technicians.
Train and oversee care provided to patients and residents.
Ensure proper coverage both at house and on the direct care units.
Provide support to the executive nurse administrator through reports, data pulls, and other requests that arise.
Retain and recruit staff.

Who are the customers?

 
This position ensures that all patients and residents are properly cared for throughout the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute. This position also oversees emergency response and is the main point of contact for all nurses and technicians.

Experience supervising nursing staff.
Experience in providing high quality and safe healthcare to patients and residents.
Experience in creating and maintaining schedules across departments.

Minimum Qualification

 
Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and four (4) years of management experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.

In accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules, and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment ls subject to nationwide criminal background checks and is conditional pending results.
2.CRIMINAL RECORDS BACKGROUND CHECK-Must successfully complete post offer pre-employment criminal records background check. Employment is conditional pending the results of criminal records background checks. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Must possess a current driver's license and defensive driving certificate.

Working Conditions

 
This position is largely an office-based position but is expected to assist in providing direct patient care on an inpatient psychiatric unit as needed.
