LOCATION: Richardson Health Center

DIVISION/DEPARTMENT: Environmental Health

SALARY INFORMATION: $22.00 Hourly / Pay Grade TPW / Job Code RCT042


Requirements

Under broad supervision, assists the Vector Control Supervisor with mosquito surveillance and response activities for vector borne diseases. Primary duties will involve identifying adult mosquitoes to genus and species with the use of dichotomous keys, recording weekly surveillance data, and providing the results to the Vector Control Supervisor for use in directing control activities. Aids with establishing surveillance locations throughout DeKalb County, setting traps, collecting mosquitoes, and supporting education programs with localized control efforts.

Qualifications

Vocational/Technical degree in agriculture, horticulture, environmental science, pest control, entomology or a closely related field from an accredited college AND Two years of experience in a directly related area

OR
Two years of college which included 12 semester hours or 20 quarter hours in chemistry or life sciences AND Two years of experience in a directly related area
OR
Two years of experience required at the lower-level Agriculture Inspector 2 (RCT041) or position equivalent.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience using dichotomous keys for the identification of insects andor those that have completed a mosquito training course.
