We are seeking a dedicated person to join our staff as the Supervisor in the Grounds Department.
Requirements
Eighteen semester hours in a plant science or landscape field of study.

Job Duties:
- Supervises the operation of zero-turn lawn tractors, a backhoe with front-end loader, tractor with grader blade, tractor with roller attachment, bucket truck, and the operation and maintenance of all mowers, weed eaters, and chain saws for the general upkeep and beautification of the grounds. Maintains vehicle operation and maintenance logs.
- Maintenance of the grounds ensures the safety and well-being of the people we serve, enabling them to move about the grounds independently and without obstacles. Supervises the trimming and fertilization of hedges, trees, and shrubs. Oversees insect and disease control of shrubs and trees. Manages the removal of unwanted vegetation in the pond, picking up limbs, raking leaves, straw, etc., utilizing inmate labor. Oversees the removal of unwanted animals on grounds by trapping and taking them to the animal shelter or wildlife and fisheries.
- Supervises the digging of graves and funeral setup at the cemetery, as well as the general upkeep of the cemetery. Supervises the planting of shrubs, flowers, sod, trees, etc.
- Requisitions supplies, tools, materials, and equipment. Supervises inmates working on grounds. Cleans and maintains the swimming pool on the grounds.
- Evaluates the work and performance of subordinate employees by ensuring completeness and accuracy in work quality and quantity. Counsels and assists employees on work-related problems or issues. Trains new employees on LDH and PSSC rules and regulations. Keeps time records and schedules employees' time off. Completes Performance Evaluation System (PES) and Planner sessions with subordinates.

Shift: 7:30 am – 4:00 pm Pass Days: Sat/Sun
Appointment Type: This position may be filled by Probation, Promotion, Demotion, Lateral Transfer or Detail to Special Duty. Preference may be given to permanent classified employees of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center.
