Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date. 

The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute provides care to New Mexicans across six different divisions including hospital level inpatient psychiatric care for both civil and forensic commitments, residential treatment for adolescents, outpatient care for people with behavioral health disorders, detox and residential substance use treatment, and skilled/long-term care. As the largest behavioral health complex in the state, inpatient/residential care is provided to over 250 New Mexicans every day, along with 400 outpatient clients a month. There are over 600 employees across all the divisions of NMBHI to ensure high-quality treatment and care is delivered.

Why does the job exist?

 
The Meadows Admissions Coordinator is responsible for working with families and other referral sources on the admission process. The admissions coordinator works closely with the referral source, finance department, and Meadow's leadership to ensure that admissions are processed correctly and timely. This position frequently interacts with families and community members and must represent Meadows, NMBHI, and DOH well in all interactions. Once the person arrives, this position helps to create the profile in the electronic health record and further assist where needed until all documentation is received and entered. This position also actively participates in morning stand-up meetings and other meetings as needed.

How does it get done?

 
- Screen all referrals received
- Ensure that referral sources are made aware of the receipt of the referral and any missing documentation
- Review admission packets with the Meadows team to determine appropriateness of admission
- Meet with families to assist with the admission process
- Remain in constant communication with internal and external parties regarding all admissions
- Process new admissions into the electronic health record
- Represent Meadows at public events as required

Ideal Candidate

 
The ideal candidate would have:
- Experience in skilled/long-term care
- Experience in admissions processes and procedures
- Experience in healthcare including the use of electronic records
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team

Minimum Qualification

 
High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) months experience with a public assistance program, medical, healthcare, educational, and/or state facility working with policies and procedures, conducting analysis/research, and/or providing or requesting information from the general public. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements

 
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Must obtain a defensive driving certificate.

Working Conditions

 
This position is largely completed in an office setting but may provide support on the resident care areas of a skilled/long-term care facility.
