The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute provides care to New Mexicans across six different divisions including hospital level inpatient psychiatric care for both civil and forensic commitments, residential treatment for adolescents, outpatient care for people with behavioral health disorders, detox and residential substance use treatment, and ski lief long-term care. As the
largest behavioral health complex in the state, inpatient/residential care is provided to over 250 N1w Mexicans every day, along with 400 outpatient clients a month. There are over 600 employees across all the divisions of NMB I to ensure high-quality treatment and care is delivered.

Why does the job exist?

 
The Forensic Admissions Compliance Officer will schedule referrals from District Courts across New Mexico and law enforcement. The Admissions Compliance Officer will also ensure smooth daily operations, assist in strategic planning, and providing high-level administrative and managerial support. The Forensic Admissions Compliance Officer will assist in the processing of comprehensive forensic reports and subpoenas, interacting with legal representatives and medical providers from correctional sites or other locations to gather documentation for admission to the Forensic Division of NMBHI under time-sensitive, statutory mandates.

How does it get done?

 
-Oversee and ensure compliance in timekeeping processes to ensure accurate payroll and labor tracking.
-Provide leadership oversight to administrative support personnel, fostering a collaborative, mission-driven environment and to improve patient care, staff efficiency, and operational effectiveness.
-Manage schedules, prepare reports, and ensure compliance in documentation critical td regulatory inspections,
audits, and quality assurance programs.
-Ensure confidentiality and protect sensitive patient and organizational information while also maintaining professionalism and customer service.

Who are the customers?

 
Patients are referred to NMBHI from the judicial system in response to not being found competency to proceed in trial. These patients are sent for restoration treatment in order to aid and assist in moving forward with the charges against them. Referral may come from any judicial district in the state. At times, patients may stay beyond the initial competency restoration treatment for up to the length of time had they been convicted of the crime they are alleged to have committed.

Ideal Candidate

 
The Ideal candidate would have:
-Experience in working with compliance to ensure admissions and work is done within time-sensitive court and statutory mandates.
-Experience in inpatient, correctional or forensic setting.
-Experience as an office manager for an interdisciplinary team.
-Experience in scheduling and coordinating clinical and forensic work-related objectives.
-Experience in working with court representatives and others within a state judicial system.

Minimum Qualification

 
High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of experience in investigations, regulation, policy, statutory, and/or contract compliance. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements

 
-Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

-Must obtain a Drivers Defensive Certificate.

-Minimum of five (5) years of direct experience as an office manager or similarly related to compliance officer in a hospital or related occupation. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required experience.

In accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules, and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment ls subject to nationwide criminal background checks and is conditional pending results.
2.CRIMINAL RECORDS BACKGROUND CHECK-Must successfully complete post offer pre-employment criminal records background check. Employment is conditional pending the results of criminal records background checks. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Working Conditions

 
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive phone and personal computer usage. Direct client interaction and some travel may be required.

This position will work in an office setting with exposure to Visual Video Display Terminal, personal computer, and phone usage. The work is in a psychiatric hospital setting with patients who struggle with mental illness and could present with unpredictable behavior.
