Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date. New Mexico Rehabilitation Center (NMRC) is a Joint Commission accredited specialty hospital providing rehabilitation services to citizens of the State of New Mexico.

Why does the job exist?

 
Employees in this Role assist in the preparation and review of accounting documents and fiscal reports for accuracy, compliance with laws, regulations and accounting procedures and ensure that expenditures are within authorized budgets.

How does it get done?

 
Prepare clean claims for MRU according to insurance (S) regulations, billing procedures and state and federal law with no more than 3 errors per month. Update Avatar dictionaries to accommodate new charges, physician information, ICD codes and default settings to ensure clean billing.Track electronic claims payments and make necessary corrections to enable re-bill.

Ideal Candidate

 
Employees possess a working knowledge of the accounting process and will learn the more technical aspects of governmental accounting and the operating system.

Minimum Qualification

 
High School diploma or Equivalency and six (6) months experience in bookkeeping, office administration, auditing, accounting, and/or finance. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements

 
Employment is subject to nationwide criminal background check and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Working Conditions

 
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. The incumbent may be exposed to mentally and/or behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable potentially violent behavior in volatile situations. The ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds, and some travel with the occasional overnight stay may be required.
