Located in the Fairmont District Office of the Office of Environmental Health Services, this position will act as a Regulatory Advisor for the Compliance and Enforcement Unit of the Environmental Engineering Division for the assigned area. This position will: assist public water systems with compliance and enforcement actions in the district area of the state in accordance with State and Federal Safe Drinking Water Act regulations; provide onsite technical assistance to public water systems to increase compliance with monitoring requirements and schedules; provide guidance to public water systems with required documentation, which may include contacting systems that are potentially out of compliance to minimize the number of reporting violations; generate reports and review data to determine which public water systems have missing sample results and provide guidance to minimize the number of monitoring violations; review technical and analytical data to determine if the public water system sample results are within the required minimum and/or maximum limits set by the State and Federal regulations; and, with the assistance of an assigned engineer, the position will determine and recommend treatment or process changes necessary to achieve or maintain compliance. Other duties as may be determined necessary to assist public water systems in achieving and maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

Training: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

OR

Substitution: Additional full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience as described below may be substituted for the required training at a rate of one (1) year of experience for every thirty (30) semester hours of training.

AND

Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in the acquisition, preservation, protection and enhancement of environmental/natural resources, environmental protection or in an agency-specific area related to environmental impact.

OR

Substitution: Graduate coursework from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience at the rate of fifteen (15) semester hours for every one (1) year of experience.
