Emergency Preparedness Coordinator

The Southeast Health District is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the full-time, salaried position of Emergency Preparedness Coordinator based in Waycross, GA.

We have clinic locations in 16 counties in Georgia, including Appling, Atkinson, Bacon, Brantley, Bulloch, Candler, Charlton, Clinch, Coffee, Evans, Jeff Davis, Pierce, Tattnall, Toombs, Ware and Wayne counties.

Requirements

Ensures compliance with Emergency Preparedness (EP) and Hospital Preparedness Program annexes, including the coordination and completion of all required programmatic reports. Maintains and updates district emergency preparedness plans, program budgets, funding requirements, and contract or agreement modifications. Coordinates and leads emergency and disaster response activities at both the district and county levels to support public health operations. Provides leadership and supervision of the Emergency Preparedness Program team. Ensures EP staff and Southeast Health District (SEHD) personnel are adequately trained and prepared to respond to emergency events. Promotes the efficient and responsible use of resources during both emergency and non-emergency operations to support the district’s mission. Develops, facilitates, and maintains strong partnerships with community stakeholders and response agencies critical to coordinated emergency management and public health response efforts.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of related experience OR High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of job-related experience or completion of an apprenticeship/internship that sufficiently supplied experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position or any other combination of education and professional experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the job.

Preferred Qualifications:
Emergency Preparedness experience, multi-agency coordination, experience working in a healthcare setting.

The Southeast Health District (SEHD) is committed to fostering a culture of health and well-being among its employees. To support this commitment, SEHD encourages staff to incorporate regular wellness activities and make lifestyle choices that promote overall health.

To assist employees in achieving their wellness goals, the use of designated wellness breaks during the workday is authorized. Employees may utilize up to 30 minutes per workday for wellness activities, which can be taken as two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

Employment Information

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.

Southeast Health District accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. SEHD will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.

The candidate selected for this position may be subject to pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check.

As an employee of SEHD, in the event of an identified emergency you may be required, as a term and condition of employment, to assist in meeting the emergency responsibilities of the department.
