Economic Stability Specialist



The mission of the Louisiana Department of Health is to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents of the State of Louisiana.

Requirements

Five years of economic stability social services experience; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus two years of economic stability social services experience; OR

A bachelor's degree plus two years of economic stability social services experience; OR

An advanced degree in a social sciences field, business, public, or health administration plus one year of economic stability social services experience.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties:

PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Incumbent would do problem solving, triage SEBT card issues Identifies problem areas and recommends corrective action to avoid federal fiscal sanctions, inequality of service and inaccurate benefit determinations. Develops and recommends revisions to forms, procedures and policies in an effort to reduce workload, minimize errors and maximize service delivery to clients.
  • Researches and analyzes program policy to determine the impact on staff, programs, clients and contracted providers. Incumbent recommends policy and procedural changes which comply with Federal and State mandates as identified by problems or as indicated to reduce workload or errors.
  • Organizes, develops, and participates in special projects, reports and workgroups in an effort to improve productivity, minimize errors and reduce workload as requested by the Economic Stability Director, SNAP. Director, and ES Manager 1. Also participates in the development of new or revised policies and procedures resulting from legislation or agency initiatives.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITES

  • Communicates with school administrators, database personnel and customers to resolve issues with cards or benefits. Identifies training needs based on findings and provides recommendations to ES Manager 1 Responsible for being subject matter expert in SEBT and SNAP for all policies and systems.

Compensation: This position is eligible for the following Special Entrance Rates (SER), as well as a Premium Pay of up to $2.00/hr for hours worked based on longevity. 

Economic Stability Specialist - $22.75 hr / $1,820 bi-weekly
