Requirements

  • Provides district-wide leadership, direction, and support for nursing services and clinical operations. 
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of district goals, objectives, and strategic priorities. 
  • Collaborates with district and county leadership to improve the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of nursing and public health services. 
  • Participates in direct patient care activities at least one day per week, or more as needed, to support clinical operations. 
  • Works from the District office a minimum of one day per week, with additional district-level presence as necessary to meet operational needs. 
  • Monitors projects, initiatives, and program activities to ensure deadlines, goals, and performance expectations are met. 
  • Promotes a high standard of customer service and supports a positive client experience throughout the district. 
  • Holds staff and leadership teams accountable for achieving established goals and objectives. 
  • Supports district decisions and fosters a collaborative, team-oriented work environment. 
  • Identifies opportunities to improve systems related to recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee engagement. 
  • Attends and represents the district at after-hours meetings and events, including county board meetings, public relations functions, and community activities, as required. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Doctorate OR master's degree in nursing, public health or related field from an accredited college or university AND Eight years of professional nursing management/supervisory experience AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Requirements

  • Must be based out of a health department within the district 
  • Must be willing to work at the district office a minimum of one day per week, and more as needed 
  • Must be willing to provide direct care at least one day per week, or as needed 
  • Must be available for after-hours work activities and travel within the district as necessary

The DPH Commissioner and agency leaders encourage all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being. 

The use of physical activity breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and help employees meet their wellness goals. A maximum of 30 minutes of physical activity may be allocated per workday, typically in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

Employment Information

State of Georgia employees are subject to the rules of the State Personnel Board regarding salary.

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) as valid. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degrees, diplomas, licensures, and other relevant credentials.

The candidate selected for this position may be subject to pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check.

Relocation assistance is not provided.
