Disability Services Specialist

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Aging and Disability Services, Bureau of Community Integration is seeking a Disability Service Specialist to join our team! 

The Disability Services Specialist administers and manages Aging and Disability Services’ role in the oversight and direction of quality assurance of publicly funded disability services to ensure effective delivery of supports and services provided through the Targeted Case Management and Disability Services units so that individuals with disabilities can live safe, healthy, successful, and self-determined lives in their homes and communities. 

This position is responsible for data collection, analysis, and reporting of various state-wide programs within the Community Integration Bureau and maintains communication with various internal and external system partners to evaluate existing workflow and make recommendations for system improvements. 

The Disability Services Specialist works closely with Aging and Disability Services leadership, Iowa Medicaid, and the division of Behavioral Health to recommend disability services program priorities and develop program improvements to support the accessibility, effectiveness, quality, and a comprehensive person-centered approach to the disability service system. 

This position can be located in any of the Targeted Case Management offices across the state or Lucas building in Des Moines.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and experience equal to two years of fulltime work experience in quality assurance, quality improvement, or total quality management;
OR
an equivalent combination of experience and education substituting one year of the required experience for each 30 semester hours or one year of the required education to a maximum of four years.
