Requirements

Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the managerial level or above:

Eight years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating administrative programs, operational programs, or special projects or initiatives within a public or private sector organization; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field plus five years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating administrative programs, operational programs, or special projects or initiatives within a public or private sector organization; OR

A bachelor’s degree plus five years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating administrative programs, operational programs, or special projects or initiatives within a public or private sector organization; OR

An advanced degree, or a Juris Doctorate, plus four years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating administrative programs, operational programs, or special projects or initiatives within a public or private sector organization.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

  • Serves as principal assistant to the Undersecretary, supporting executive leadership and strategic direction for the Louisiana Department of Health 
  • Assists in planning, directing, and coordinating programs within the Office of Management and Finance, including HR, budget, fiscal, administrative, disaster reimbursement, and contract management functions 
  • Leads and facilitates meetings with division and section heads to align administrative and operational priorities across programs 
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to resolve financial, budgetary, and operational challenges, ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements 
  • Provides direct supervision and management of division heads across multiple functional areas, ensuring accountability and performance outcomes 
  • Develops, implements, and refines policies, procedures, and guidelines to support administrative, operational, and programmatic effectiveness 
  • Represents the department in high-level engagements, including legislative hearings and interagency coordination, and may direct program evaluations to improve service delivery
