DHD #10 is seeking a full-time organized, detailed oriented, and collaborative Deputy Health Officer with leadership experience to join the District Health Department #10 Team.
General Responsibilities
· Reports to Health Officer and is responsible for implementing and monitoring agency goals as directed by Board of Health and/or Health Officer.
· Provides critical leadership in organizing and implementing processes and programs to quantify and evaluate outcomes and results and promote continuous quality improvement and performance management.
· Establishes and maintains partnerships with stakeholders at local, regional, state and federal level to identify and address population-based health issues and trends.
· Represents agency and provides leadership to regional and state initiatives to promote public health and shared vision for community action.
· May serve as the Health Officer in the absence of the Health Officer.
· The candidate selected for this position will be expected to transition to the Health Officer position upon the retirement of the current Health Officer. Ideally, this position will be based in Wexford County but will negotiate other Counties based upon space availability.
Minimum Requirements
· Master’s degree preferred in public health, public administration, health promotion, healthcare administration or related field with 3-5 years of leadership experience.
· Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5-8 years of leadership experience with demonstrated progression in supervision and management of public health programs, project management, and administration and leadership of multiple components of a public health organization.
· Advanced planning, evaluation, group process/facilitation skills and visioning necessary to lead and facilitate systemic and population-based strategies and solutions to public health issues and trends.
· Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and human relations skills.
· Ability to work flexible work schedule.
· Reliable transportation with valid Michigan driver’s license and certificate of insurance to travel to other locations for work, training, or meetings.
