                                                                 This is a grant-funded position. 

Position Overview:
Under the supervision of the Data Analytics Manager, the Data Analyst oversees the full spectrum of data analytics, from gathering to reporting, while utilizing various tools for effective data management, analysis, and visualization. Individuals in this position will be responsible for understanding data preparation and analysis procedures; support the development of reports; and provide analyses that drives organizational decision making. The Data Analyst will also be responsible for providing data analysis that will be used to inform data-driven decisions for communicable, non-communicable, and emerging diseases' operations.  

The Data Analyst role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to efficiently coordinate workflow utilizing tools such as Excel, SQL, R, and PowerBI.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manages the full life cycle of data analytics to include requirements gathering, analysis design, data collection and cleaning, performing analysis, and reporting findings to support the entire health department's data needs.
  • Utilizes tools such as Excel, SQL, R, PowerBI, and ArcGIS to perform data management, data cleaning, data analysis, and data visualization.
  • Identifies, develops, and implements recommendations to inform future data analytics projects, support strategic data-driven recommendations that inform and help tailor programs and services.
  • Fulfills ad-hoc data requests to enable data-driven decision making across various divisions and offices. Also, assists with reporting analytical findings and key takeaways using a clear and systematic approach. 
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure analyses are aligned with organizational objectives and requirements.
  • Conducts thorough research and communicates insights through well-crafted presentations, comprehensive reports, and intuitive dashboards to effectively communicate findings and recommendations.

Requirements

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Management, Statistics, or related field.
Experience:
  • At least two (2) years of experience working on data projects including data query, cleaning, management, analysis, and visualization, including:
  • At least one (1) year of experience using the following data tools: R or Python, SQL, and PowerBI.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Excel, SQL, R, and PowerBI for data analysis and visualization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in navigating and resolving complex issues.
  • Proactive self-starter capable of initiating tasks independently.
  • Proficiency in collecting, maintaining, analyzing, and presenting data effectively.
  • Proficiency in commonly used office computer programs, notably Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to coordinate workflow effectively to ensure efficient service delivery.

Qualifications

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
  • This is a full-time position.
  • Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm. 
  • Other days and hours as necessary. 
Work Environment:
  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands:
  • This is a largely sedentary role; however, some duties would require the ability to lift up to 20 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.
