Come join our team! As a Customer Service Representative at the Monroe County Health Department in the city of Forsyth, GA, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals who support the mission and vision of protecting the lives of Georgia residents in a variety of ways.

Requirements

The Customer Service Representative plays an important role in supporting the Monroe County Health Department by performing a variety of office support and secretarial duties. This includes composing and word-processing correspondence, responding to routine telephone and walk-in inquiries, scheduling appointments, attending staff meetings and trainings, processing forms, completing data entry, and establishing and maintaining records. The Customer Service Representative will work under the general supervision of the Customer Service Supervisor and will contribute to a friendly, efficient, and service-oriented environment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities  

  • Answering the phones, timely booking of appointments, and calling to confirm appointments.
  • Verifying patient insurance coverage.
  • Portraying a positive image and engaging in professional and friendly communications with clients to meet their needs in a timely manner.
  • Complete requisitions and submit them to the Customer Service Supervisor.
  • Maintain and submit monthly reports as requested by Customer Service Supervisor. 
  • Maintain patient’s HIPPA rights and confidentiality 
  • Communicate message(s) to other staff in a dependable, clear, and efficient manner.
  • Facilitate day-to-day operation under the management of the Customer Service Supervisor. 
  • Performs additional professional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience communicating information in a customer service setting are required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of general office or administrative experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong computer and internet skills required MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently, multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • Previous customer service experience in a healthcare setting, verifying patient information and scheduling appointments

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.

The candidate selected for this position may be subject to pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check.
