This posting will be used for on-going recruitment and may close at any time.  Applicant lists may be screened more than once. New Mexico Rehabilitation Center (NMRC) is a Joint Commission accredited specialty hospital providing rehabilitation services to citizens of the State of New Mexico.

Why does the job exist?

 
Performs custodial tasks in a state-owned or leased building.

How does it get done?

 
Cleans floors by sweeping, mopping, waxing, and buffing; cleans windows, windowsills and mirrors; vacuums and shampoos carpets; cleans facility which includes washing walls, cleaning restrooms and offices, dusting furniture, etc: removes snow from walks and driveways; moves furniture as necessary; collects and disposes of garbage; uses proper disinfectants to control odor and germs; sets up rooms for meetings; may train custodial personnel to perform routine meetings; may train custodial personnel to perform routine custodial duties; while working, inspects facility for needed repairs and reports to supervisor; performs related tasks as assigned.  Maintains inventory, performs minor maintenance and repairs of equipment¿s.

Ideal Candidate

 
The ideal candidate would have experience  in any combination of education, training and experience in custodial duties totaling six months, possession of or ability to obtain a New Mexico Driver¿s License may be required for some jobs, knowledge of cleaning methods and practices: of cleansers, supplies, and equipment; of safety rules, ability to follow instructions, both written and oral; to communicate; clean properly; to operate cleaning equipment, skills include manual dexterity and eye hand/feet coordination, candidate may be required to complete and pass a physical examination prior to appointment to this classification.

Minimum Qualification

 
Eighth grade education.

Working Conditions

 
Work is performed in an indoor setting and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles or caustic chemicals. Lifting, pushing, pulling, transferring, and/or carrying up to fifty (50) pounds.Position may be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, overtime, and holidays.
