Central Louisiana State Hospital located in Pineville, Louisiana is seeking applicants for a vacant position in our Housekeeping Department as a Custodian 1-3 who performs basic manual tasks in order to maintain the cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and appearance of state buildings, facilities, institutions, etc.
The Custodian 1-3 plays a vital role for the Louisiana Department of Health in the Behavioral Health community by utilizing CLSH’s values and mission to deliver quality and effective care to our patients. The hospital is highly committed to cooperative work with other state agencies and with the state and regional mental health program to insure the integration and coordination of hospital-community services into a comprehensive system of mental health care.

Job Duties:
- Maintains sanitary environment and responsible for various routine custodial services duties that include, but are not limited to: dusting any surface capable of maintaining debris and dust, sweeping, clean blinds and windows, wet mop, strip, wax, and buff floors in patient care areas that house patients and in ancillary buildings.
- Cleans and disinfects all restrooms, shower areas, and laundry equipment daily and as needed.
- Performs custodial tasks to maintain cleanliness of the exteriors of the buildings, adjacent grounds, and areas that fall under the operational control of ownership of their department.
- Cleans and decontaminates areas where body fluids are present. Replace, strip, decontaminate, and make patient beds.
- Ensure that bio-hazardous wastes are properly disposed of, and maintain a safe environment for the patients served by reporting all safety hazards to supervisor.
- Check and maintain an adequate supply of cleaning products, paper products and personal items for patients and staff. Ensure housekeeping carts have current safety data sheets. Inform staff of problems that would adversely impact the environment cleanliness or safety.
- Trains in non-violent crisis intervention to avoid, avert, and properly respond to patients in crisis situations. Attend in services and training on proper procedures, products and chemicals and use of proper personal protective equipment.
- Responds to emergency, on-call duties, and all other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the Custodial Services Department of CLSH.

Appointment Type: Promotional, Demotion, Probational, and Job Appointment
Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Custodian 1, 2, or 3.
Work Schedule: Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
Compensation: Custodian 1 Minimum Hire Rate: $10.00; Custodian 2 Minimum Hire Rate: $10.70; Custodian 3 Minimum Hire Rate-$12.25
- Position is eligible for Longevity pay starting at $1.00 per hour.
