Come join our team! As a County Nurse Manager at the Monroe County Health Department in the city of Forsyth, GA, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals who support the mission and vision of protecting the lives of Georgia residents in a variety of ways.

Requirements

Under limited supervision, the County Nurse Manager oversees programs, staff, clinical services, and fiscal operations of the local public health department. The role develops community partnerships, manages resources, and ensures delivery of safe, high-quality public health services. Specific areas of reasonability and duties may include:


Staff Leadership

  • Hire, supervise, evaluate, and train clinical and clerical staff; oversee student training.

Programs & Operations

  • Plan and manage county health programs; maintain compliance; submit reports; support policy development.

Quality & Improvement

  • Ensure safe, high-quality services; monitor customer satisfaction; participate in audits and QI projects.

Fiscal & Resource Management

  • Manage budgets, supplies, equipment, and facility needs.

Community Outreach

  • Coordinate education, health promotion, and public engagement activities.

Clinical Practice

  • Provide direct patient care as an expanded role nurse, including labs, treatments, medications, vaccines, education, and referrals; document care thoroughly and appropriately in the EMR.

Leadership & Communication

  • Serve as local public health contact; participate in meetings; brief the Board of Health.

Emergency Preparedness & Facilities

  • Lead emergency preparedness; oversee facility safety and compliance with fire and safety protocols. Communicates facility needs (including but not limited to painting, landscape, and repairs) to the BOH and appropriate county authority.

Additional Duties

  • Participate in district projects and committees and other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification; or two (2) years of experience at the lower-level PH Registered Nurse Spv (HCP193) or position equivalent.
 
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Knowledge of Georgia DPH Nurse protocols
  • Experience with federal or state budget management.

The use of physical activity breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and help employees meet their wellness goals. A maximum of 30 minutes of physical activity may be allocated per workday, typically in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

Employment Information

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) as valid. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degrees, diplomas, licensures, and other relevant credentials.
