Community Outreach Liaison

The Community Outreach Liaison will build relationships with schools, afterschool programs, community and faith-based organizations, and other programs that provide services to middle or high school youth groups for the Health Evidence for All Teens (HEAT). The HEAT Initiative is a grant contract with Morehouse School of Medicine. The HEAT Project will serve communities with high teen birth rates and sexually transmitted infection (STI) rates. HEAT will also implement supportive services such as social skills groups, youth leadership and community service, parent engagement, and environmental strategies for community mobilization to support youth behavioral change.                                                                                                                                                           

Requirements

  • Effective communication of the HEAT’s mission to potential partners/stakeholders.
  • Recruit youth-serving organizations to participate in the HEAT project.
  • Assist with coordinating and monitoring the evidence-based curriculum sessions.
  • Collaborate and participate in community youth outreach activities and/or events.
  • Work with the District Program Manager to develop outreach connections with youth-serving agencies/schools.
  • Participate in developing marketing, communication, and promotional goals and strategies.
  • Create marketing materials and utilize all social media platforms to promote services.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of job-related experience; or One (1) year of experience at the lower level Advocate 1 (HCP030) or equivalent position.
  • Note:  An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


Preference will be given to applicants who in addition to meeting the Minimum Qualifications, also possess the following:


  • Experience establishing and maintaining community partnerships
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
