Position Overview: 

Under general supervision, the Communications Supervisor will lead a team of Communications Specialists and Graphic Designers to develop and execute systems and tools as it relates to the Office of Communications, Education, and Engagement (OCEE). Individuals in this role will be responsible for overseeing projects to ensure they are meeting goals and timelines related to marketing campaigns, video production, and general day-to-day functions. 

The Communications Supervisor is expected to collaborate on project development and provide strategy and guidance under the supervision of the Communications Manager.   

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Team Management: Oversees and leads a team of Communications Specialists and Graphic Designers by motivating and setting a clear vision and direction for the team. Also, implements departmental goals and objectives for executing communications for HCPH programs/activities. In addition, assigns tasks and responsibilities to team members based on priority and workload.
  • Process Improvement: Analyzes and evaluates HCPH program needs and provides innovative and engaging consultative guidance. As well as develops and implements workflows to improve the processes in the OCEE office.
  • Content Review and Management: Reviews and edits copies, fact checks, and proofreads content for use in print and digital materials as assigned. Also contributes and maintains centralized repository of communications materials.
  •  Project Management: Supports leadership and staff with project deadlines and content goals. Establishes check-ins and reviews to ensure deadlines will be met.
  • Campaign Management: Collaborates with essential internal stakeholders on multimedia campaigns to guarantee content relevance, accuracy, and alignment with branding and messaging. Spearheads the conceptualization, oversees media purchases, and manages collateral for designated campaigns.
  • Strategic Communication and Planning: Maintains current communication strategies, including leading the development of new communication strategies, plans, and protocols to better serve the OCEE office.
  • Reporting and Emergency Response: Updates daily and weekly reports in a timely manner for senior management. As well as other duties as assigned, including special tasks involved in responding to an emergency event.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, public information, public affairs, public health, graphic design or related field

Experience:

  • Three (3) years professional work experience in communications, public information, public affairs, public health, social media marketing, project management or other related field.
  • Two (2) years leading large-scale projects or teams

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and foster teamwork in a diverse environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills to ensure projects are completed timely and accurately.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
  • Ability to work well with public and staff members.
  • Ability to use personal mobile device for our Multifactor Authentication process.

Qualifications

Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work:
  • Full-Time.

  • Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
  • Other days and hours as necessary.
Work Environment:
  • This job operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands:
  • This is a largely stationary role, however does require field work and many duties would require the ability to lift up to 20 pounds and bending and standing for periods at a time.
