Commissioner of Health - Orange County, NY
Orange County, NY is seeking a physician leader to guide its County Health Department as Commissioner of Health. The County's vision is for the Commissioner to serve as a public health advocate and leader focused on community-facing initiatives supported by strong internal management.
The Department consists of approximately 123 employees in the following divisions:
- Community Health Outreach
- Intervention Services
- Environmental Health
- Emergency Preparedness
- Epidemiology.
The Department has experienced internal non-medical staff lead by an attorney with an MHA and a municipal finance leader who manages the Department's budget. Competent nursing staff leadership who have been tested through the COVID crisis and helped direct and manage large-scale public health responses also help lead the team.
In addition to having diverse communities, including small cities and historic villages, Orange County has high quality public school systems and is also home to Touro Medical College.
Orange County has two interstate highways and is bounded on the east by the Hudson River and the west by the Delaware River.
