Requirements

The Work Unit:

Colorado Circular Communities (C3)’s  Outreach and Technical Assistance unit exists to identify and develop projects that promote waste aversion and diversion and circularity. C3 supportsthe economic health of the State of Colorado through the creation of job opportunities and encourages practices that protect and improve the environment, grow sustainable business, and lead to healthy communities. The unit assists with funding opportunities by providing technical assistance. The strategic focus areas for the unit include funding; technical assistance; collaboration and partnerships.


The Division of Environmental Health and Sustainability is under the direction of the Division Director and works to centralize and enhance the department’s oversight of crosscutting and voluntary environmental protection programs and initiatives. The Colorado Circular Communities (C3) Enterprise works closely with other environmental and health divisions to ensure that initiatives are integrated into the department s traditional environmental protection and public health efforts in an efficient and effective manner.


The C3 Team, within the Division of Environmental Health and Sustainability, oversees contract monitoring and administration of all grants and contracts for the C3 program and provides technical assistance and project selection related to the funding of circular economy projects and waste aversion and diversion efforts. In addition, this team assists in the administration of the C3 board of directors.


Summary of Position:

The C3 Outreach and Technical Specialist works with identified applicants to develop grant request documents that align with program priorities and board

criteria.. The role serves as the point of contact for internal and external outreach and communications related to relationship development, and as the first point of contact for regional partnerships. This role anticipates and analyzes the impact and consequences of decisions made and through this process is a resource to others in the field.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience Only:

Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position, such as working in environmental sustainability, outreach, and/or grantmaking.


OR


Education and Experience:

A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to six (6) years


This experience and education must be substantiated within the Work Experience & Education section of your application. "See Resume"  and missing relevant employment or education criteria will not be credited towards the minimum qualifications. Education will be credited on a year-for-year basis. Conditions of Employment:

  • A pre-employment background check

  • This position will have hybrid workplace options available but will still be required to report to the listed address at least two (2) days per week or as business needs dictate. *Please note: These working arrangements are subject to change based on CDPHE's business needs. The position will be expected to work on site, when needed,  at 4300 S Cherry Creek Dr Glendale, CO 80246. 

  • Office hours are typically Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. Extended hours during the evening or the weekend MAY be required by business needs.

  • A remote (home) office is required.

  • 5% travel required within the State of Colorado.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to analyze facts, data, and evidence to arrive at a logical conclusion.

  • Ability to observe, electronically record, and interpret information.

  • Advanced Interpersonal and conflict management skills e.g. displays understanding, courtesy, tact, empathy and concern.

  • Develops and maintains effective relationships, deals skillfully with people who are difficult, hostile or distressed, effectively manages and resolves conflicts, confrontations and disagreements in a positive and constructive way.

  • Computer literate.

  • Ability to use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate errors and support decision-making.

  • Experience and ability to write factually accurate, clear, concise and professional reports.

  • Understanding of permitting and regulatory challenges that may affect shovel-readiness or ultimate success of grant projects 

  • Knowledge of circularity practices, such as recycling, composting, end market development, or other aspects of circularity

  • Experience with outreach in rural and other underserved Colorado communities

  • Experience collaborating with municipal stakeholders such as school district and city/county staff members

  • Ability to present information and answer questions in various stakeholder groups, such as community groups, city councils, and the C3 Board of Directors


Appeal Rights:
