CLINIC CHARGE NURSE - Public Health

Coordinate the direct clinic function which includes directing clinic flow, clarification of policies and procedures. Communicate with staff, clients, and supervisors. Maintain nurse caseloads, attendance records, evaluations and supervisors; order clinic supplies. Perform physical assessments and provide immunizations. Act as a resource person for the staff. Direct marketing/education efforts for client recruitment.

Requirements

  1. Provides clinic services.
  2. Monitors clinic flow.
  3. Performs reporting and documentations.
  4. Makes referrals as needed.
  5. Assists with grant writing if needed.
  6. Performs evaluation on employees.
  7. Monitors day-to-day operations.
  8. Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the Public Health Department as assigned or required.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) and two (2) years of public health and/or supervisory experience.  
Associate’s degree in Nursing (ADN) and four (4) years of public health and/or supervisory experience.  
Current Texas or multistate compact (including Texas) RN license required. (Texas RN license required within ninety (90) days of hire.) 
Current and valid driver license and good driving record required.  
Knowledge of physical assessment and immunization skills.  
Knowledge of clinical and medical equipment.  
Ability to calculate simple math and manual dexterity to give immunizations and restrain children.  
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to bend, carry, climb stairs, grasp/squeeze, use hand tools, hear, keyboard, kneel, lift below the waist, lift between waist and shoulder, lift overhead, lift to the side/twist, tolerate noise, pull, push, reach, reach overhead, perform repetitive tasks, see color, see far and near, sit, squat, stand, stoop, talk, twist, use his/her hands, drive a vehicle, walk, and work alone and with others.  Exposure to active infectious diseases and body fluids.  Possible needle sticks and restraining of children.
