This is a grant-funded position.

Position Overview:

The Client Services Specialist supports patient care services provided by the Refugee Clinic. The Specialist is responsible for performing administrative tasks in accordance with all Harris County Public Health (HCPH) and Refugee Health Screening Program protocols. This position is responsible for client reception, scheduling, and maintaining medical records for the Refugee Health Screening Program.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Receives clients upon arrival, completes registration, verifies eligibility and documents insurance coverage.
  • Schedules and confirms appointments in the electronic medical record system.
  • Answers and manages incoming phone calls by routing clients appropriately and providing service information.
  • Prepares medical records for document imaging and scanning in accordance with HCPH Health Information medical record protocols.
  • Receives and monitors interpreter and taxi providers at the clinic.
  • Provides translation for clinical staff when needed.
  • Performs data entry and electronic data processing by using the program Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Microsoft Excel, and any other related software.
  • Conducts home visits when necessary to retrieve medical records, obtain consents and/or collect specimens.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements


Education:

  • High school Diploma or GED

Experience:

  • At least one (1) year experience performing administrative office duties in a health care setting
Licenses/Certifications:
  • Valid Texas Driver's License

Qualifications

Education:
•Completion of a community college or business/technical school Medical Assistant program

Language:
•Bilingual (English/Spanish/Arabic/ or other language)


Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time | grant-funded position
  • Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Must be willing to flex work hours when required, including weekends
  • Able to travel within Harris County as needed

Work Environment:

  • This job operates in a professional clinic environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands:

  • This role requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.

Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
