The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute provides care to New Mexicans across six different divisions including hospital level inpatient psychiatric care for both civil and forensic commitments, residential treatment for adolescents, outpatient care for people with behavioral health disorders, detox and residential substance use treatment, and skilled/long-term care. As the largest behavioral health complex in the state, inpatient/residential care is provided to over 250 New Mexicans every day, along with 400 outpatient clients a month. There are over 600 employees across all the divisions of NMBHI to ensure high-quality treatment and care is delivered.

This position exists to ensure the maintenance and up keeping of the facility

How does it get done?

 
-Performs a multitude of complex tasks related to maintenance and repair.

-Performs facility maintenance tasks, including but not limited to, painting, grounds keeping, snow removal, and planting and maintaining vegetation.

-Inspects facilities to determine needed repairs.

-Performs minor carpentry repairs.

-Repairs deck and piling on bridges.

-Patrols facility to ensure that grounds are clean, safe, and free of debris.

Ideal Candidate

 
-Skilled in construction repair, maintenance of structures, and strong attention to detail and the ability to follow safety protocols.

-Dependable, efficient and able to handle a variety of tasks from minor fixes to larger projects while maintaining quality workmanship.

Minimum Qualification

 
High School Diploma or Equivalent and six (6) months of experience in general building and grounds maintenance, custodial duties, construction, or appliance repair. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience.

Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate

1.SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITIONS--This position ls designated as safely sensitive. Employment Is subject to pre-employment and random testing. Employment ls subject to nationwide criminal background checks and is conditional pending results.
2.CRIMINAL RECORDS BACKGROUND CHECK-Must successfully complete post offer pre-employment criminal records background check. Employment is conditional pending the results of criminal records background checks. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Working Conditions

 
This position will perform work at the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute, both indoors and outdoors. Some standing, walking, stooping, bending and lifting a minimum of one hundred (100) pounds with assistance may be required. Effective 01/01/2015, the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free/E-Cigarette Free Campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products or E-Cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus.Position may be required to work shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, and call back hours as needed.Shift 7:00am to 5:30pm.
