The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute provides care to New Mexicans across six different divisions including hospital level inpatient psychiatric care for both civil and forensic commitments, residential treatment for adolescents, outpatient care for people with behavioral health disorders, detox and residential substance use treatment, and skilled/long-term care. As the largest behavioral health complex in the state, inpatient/residential care is provided to over 250 New Mexicans every day, along with 400 outpatient clients a month. There are over 600 employees across all the divisions of NMBHI to ensure high-quality treatment and care is delivered.

Why does the job exist?

 
Incumbent will provide direct, mental health care services, navigation, and treatment coordination at the Forensic Division of NMBHI. Assist licensed psychologists with evaluation, navigation, treatment planning, crisis intervention, individual and/or group programming, and competency restoration and treatment.

How does it get done?

 
Incumbent assesses patients to aid in determining strengths/weaknesses, treatment needs and recommendations, need for services, response to treatment and clinical outcomes. Conducts mental
health services, navigation, treatment coordination and planning, as well as documentation using a standard format.

Patients, residents, and clients of NMBHI.

Ideal Candidate

 
Ideal candidate will have:

Experience working with treatment planning
Experience working in direct patient care
Experience providing individual or group programming
Experience working with mentally ill patients
Experience working with forensic navigation and psychometrics

Minimum Qualification

 
Licensure in New Mexico as an LMSW, LISW, LMHC, LMFT, LPCC, LCSW, or LPAT and one (1) year of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field above licensure requirements and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements

 
Completion of the hiring process is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment screening process. This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing.

Working Conditions

 
Position will perform work primarily in an office setting with extensive computer and phone usage and exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal. Lifting up to thirty (30) pounds might be required. Effective 01/01/2015, the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became 100% Tobacco Free/E-Cigarette Free campus. As such no tobacco, tobacco products or E-Cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus. This position is within the Forensic Division of NMBHI, a 24-hour in-patient care facility.
