Requirements

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice law plus four years of experience as a practicing attorney.

  • Serve as senior legal counsel for LDH Region 3 and backup counsel for Region 2, providing support across multiple parishes
  • Provide independent, high-level legal direction, advice, and consultation on complex issues affecting regional operations
  • Advise and represent LDH programs, including Medicaid, Office of Behavioral Health, Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities, Adult Protective Services, Human Resources, Office of Public Health, and Office of Women's Health
  • Review, interpret, and apply state and federal health laws, regulations, and policies to ensure compliance across regional programs
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents for regional offices and facilities
  • Collaborate with Executive Counsel, General Counsel, and Deputy General Counsels on high-profile legal matters and strategic initiatives
  • Represent LDH in legal proceedings, administrative hearings, and other formal settings as needed
  • Provide guidance and support to regional leadership on risk management, policy implementation, and operational decisions
  • Analyze legal issues, prepare memoranda, and develop recommendations to inform decision-making for regional programs
  • Stay current on developments in health law and related legal areas to provide informed and timely counsel
