$16.50 - $24.75 Hourly

$34,320 - $51,480 Annually

This posting will be used to conduct ongoing recruitment and will remain open until position has been filled.

Why does the job exist?

 
The primary purpose of this position is to maintain the grounds, facility, equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the supervisor.

How does it get done?

 
Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, etc., by cutting, trimming, sweeping etc., as necessary/directed.
Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment to include plastering, carpentry, mechanical, etc.

Who are the customers?

 
Residents at a long-term care facility.

Ideal Candidate

 
Will have:
The ability to speak and write the English language.
The ability to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies.

Minimum Qualification

 
High School Diploma or Equivalent and three (3) months of experience in general buildings and grounds maintenance, custodial duties, construction, or appliance repair. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) months may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements

 
Will be screened for tuberculosis (TB) upon hire.  Employment is subject to nationwide criminal background check pursuant to New Mexico Caregivers Criminal Screening Act (Sections 29-17-2 through 29-17-5 NMSA 1978 and 7.1.9.1 through 7.1.9.11 NMAC) and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

 
Works in all areas of the facility.
Moves intermittently during working hours.
Is subject to frequent interruptions and may need to reschedule maintenance activities.
Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies etc.
Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
Communicates with maintenance personnel and other facility personnel.
Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, and other air contaminants.
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.,
May be required to work in cramped spaces and in adverse weather conditions.

Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
