Here’s how you will support our mission
Columbia Basin College invites applications for a passionate and collaborative educator to join our Health Sciences faculty as a tenure-track Assistant Professor. This position will teach and contribute to the coordination of programs within the School of Health Sciences, including the Bachelor of Applied Science in Community Health, the Associate of Science in Health Science, and the Substance Use Disorder Professional program.

The ideal candidate will bring expertise in at least one of these areas and demonstrate the versatility to engage across multiple disciplines, collaborating with diverse faculty, students, and community partners. The successful candidate will contribute to the college’s mission through innovative instruction, student mentorship, and active participation in community engagement, including service on healthcare advisory committees and local workforce partnerships.

We are seeking an educator who values inclusive, student-centered learning and is eager to apply current, evidence-based, and technology-enhanced teaching methods in a variety of instructional formats—including face-to-face, hybrid, and online modalities.
 
This position reports to the Dean for Health Sciences.
 

The salary range for this position is $80,024.00 - $84,074.00 for a 176-day contract over the Instructional Year (Fall/Winter/Spring Quarters). Additional compensation may be available for assignment of summer quarter courses or courses taught outside of the full-time position during fall, winter and spring quarters. This position is in a hard to fill discipline eligible for additional money per MOU 013 – Hard to Fill Supplemental Pay (Download PDF reader) and would receive an additional stipend. This is not a guarantee of compensation and is subject to funding.

• Proficient skills in educating a diverse student body, ensuring inclusivity and effectiveness in learning experiences.
• Dedication to scholarly pursuits within one's area of specialty, contributing to the academic rigor and reputation of the college.
• A commitment to actively contribute to the design and evaluation of learning outcomes, playing a key role in the college's efforts towards institutional effectiveness and continuous improvement.

• Master's degree in Community Health, Behavioral Health, Public Health, Substance Use Disorder Counseling, or a related field from an institutionally accredited college or university or currently enrolled in a qualifying Master's program at the time of application;
• Four (4) years of experience in community health, behavioral health, public health, or substance use counseling; 
• Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other computer applications as appropriate; and
• Demonstrated experience or commitment to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in professional or educational settings, particularly in relation to Hispanic and underserved communities. This includes personal and professional efforts to address challenges faced by these populations and advocate for their success.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish;
• Community college teaching experience; and 
• Unencumbered License as a Substance Use Disorder Professional in the State of Washington or have the ability to become licensed at time of hire.
