What you will be doing:
Join a dynamic and diverse team responsible for maintenance and enhancements to the Department of Health's Enterprise Applications, including our enterprise service bus, database work, and development projects. This is a small, collaborative team working closely on a variety of technologies with many opportunities for cross-training and professional growth.

  • Operations Support: Knowledge of procedures to ensure production or delivery of products and services, including tools and mechanisms for distributing new or enhanced software
  • Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
  • Computer Languages: Knowledge of computer languages and their applications to enable a system to perform specific functions
  • Configuration Management: Knowledge of the principles and methods for planning or managing the implementation, update, or integration of information systems component
  • Operating Systems: Knowledge of computer network, desktop, and mainframe operating systems and their applications

Requirements


Analyst/Programmer I

Successful completion of nine (9) semester hours of college-level coursework in computer languages or system analysis.

OR

Three months of actual computer programming experience.

OR

One year of work experience using a computer for analysis, including experience in the use of computer reporting languages, spreadsheets, or statistical packages.

Special Note:

An applicant who will complete the required college-level coursework within three (3) months of hire qualifies to apply for this job class. An applicant qualifying under this option may receive a job offer conditional upon completion of the required college-level coursework and proof of completion will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.

Individual positions at each level in this class series may require expertise in a particular area of programming or analysis. Recruitment and selection will be on the basis of these requirements.

For some positions in these job classes, a background investigation including fingerprinting is required.

Analyst/Programmer II

One year of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language. One year of the experience must have been in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer system user support specialty.

Analyst/Programmer III
 Two years of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language. One year of this experience must have been in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer information management support specialty.


Analyst/Programmer IV
Four years of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language. One year of this experience must have been in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer information management support specialty.

Substitution:

A bachelor's degree with a major in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Information Systems (CIS), or a related degree with (18) semester/(24) quarter hours of CS or CIS may substitute for all of the required experience. An associate's degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems may substitute for nine months of the required experience.

Special Note:

An applicant who is considered under the Substitution above qualifies to apply for this job class IF the applicable coursework is completed within three (3) months of hire. Under this option, an applicant may receive a conditional job offer; however, proof of completion will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.

SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONS

Your responses will be considered a writing sample and used to determine which applicants will advance to the interview phase of the recruitment process.


CLASSIFICATION
This Position Description is currently being reviewed by the Division of Personnel & Labor Relations, Classification Section. Depending on the outcome of the allocation, this recruitment pool may or may not be utilized to fill this vacancy.  


FLEXIBLY STAFFED 
This position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either the 1, 2, or 3 levels, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level of the position. If filled at a lower level, promotion to the higher level will only occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and the required training, provided the applicant meets the minimum qualifications of the higher job class and receives final approval from the supervisor.
 

EDUCATION
To verify education is being used to meet and/or support the required minimum qualifications/competencies, you must fill in the Education section of the application  If you have not obtained a degree, please indicate the number of units completed  Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials used to meet or support the minimum qualifications/competencies for a position and are required with each application  (Unofficial is okay; please ensure the institution/URL name is listed on the transcripts)  Transcripts can be attached at the time of application or provided at the time of interview; if not, transcripts will be required before employment.
