The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Community Access, Bureau of Eligibility Determination is seeking an Administrative Support Assistant 2 to join our team!

Are you organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about helping others? The Iowa Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) is looking for an Eligibility Determinations Administrative Support Assistant to provide essential clerical and customer service support in our Polk County office Monday – Friday from 8 am – 4:30 pm. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety, teamwork, and making a difference in their community. 

Note: New hires will start at the base salary of $17.29 hourly, $1,383.20 biweekly, $35,963.20 annually. 

What You’ll Do
• Keep our office running smoothly by coordinating operations and managing supplies. 

• Provide friendly, professional assistance to customers and staff—both in person and over the phone. 

• Handle important documents: scanning, indexing, uploading, and distributing mail and correspondence

Support team members with administrative tasks and step in as backup when needed. 

• Stay informed on policies and procedures through training and meetings. 


What We’re Looking For
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 

• Excellent communication and customer service skills. 

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and navigating Windows. 

Dependable attendance and commitment to confidentiality

Occasional travel to assist other offices.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:  

  1. One year of full-time work experience in general office, clerical, data entry/processing, or related work.
  2. A total of one year of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
  3. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full-time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 1.
