The Office of Financial Affairs assists in the establishment of Ohio Department of Health's (ODH) long- and short-range fiscal goals and objectives. The office provides the agency with the overall fiscal administration support through its various unit operations including accounting, purchasing, budgeting and grants administration. The office oversees the department's Compliance and Accountability Unit and biennial budget process; provides technical assistance to agency decision makers and provides daily monitoring and analysis of agency spending trends.

What You'll Do:

The Office of Financial Affairs is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive administrative professional to provide advanced support. This role involves financial reporting, program coordination and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Duties include: 

  • Provide advanced administrative and secretarial support, including drafting reports and handling sensitive correspondence.
  • Analyze, compile and summarize complex financial, payroll and operational data. 
  • Prepare and run financial and program reports.
  • Coordinate and support the Medicaid Administrative Claiming (MAC) program and related activities. 
  • Respond to inquiries from internal staff, local health departments and external partners.
  • Monitor compliance with federal and state regulations, policies and procedures. 
  • Assist with quarterly timestudies, audits, and documentation for reimbursement. 
  • Maintain and update systems and ensure data accuracy. 
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to agencies on reporting and system use. 
  • Participate in meetings, committees, and inter-agency collaborations.
  • Track program performance and recommend process improvements.
  • Support training efforts, conferences and program communications.
  • Perform general administrative duties such as scheduling, recordkeeping, invoicing and document management.

Qualifications

Position Qualifications:

Option 1:

30 mos. exp. or 30 mos. trg. in secretarial/administrative professional field. 

Or 

Option 2:

Completion of associate core coursework in secretarial science or business office applications from accredited career school or community college AND 12 mos. exp. in secretarial/administrative professional field. 

Or 

Option 3:

12 mos. exp. as Administrative Professional 2,16872. 

Or 

Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above

ALL ANSWERS TO THE SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONS MUST BE SUPPORTED BY THE WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION PROVIDED ON YOUR CIVIL SERVICE APPLICATION.
Unless required by legislation, the selected candidate will begin at Pay Grade 10, Step 1 of the Exempt Pay Range Schedule ($26.92 per hour), with an opportunity for pay increase after six months ($28.40 per hour) of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.
